Whether you’re new to the world of flash photography or you’d like to brush up on your studio skills and learn some new tricks, this one-day, hands-on intensive workshop will give you the technical and creative knowledge you need to master the art of strobe photography.

Learning how to use strobe lighting can be daunting. Strobes give you complete lighting control of your image and are one of the most powerful tools you can master on your journey to becoming a serious photographer.

In the morning, you will learn about the fundamentals of shooting with strobes including light theory, technical info, and how softboxes and other light modifiers work. We will also discuss the creative aspects of flash photography and how to incorporate creative lighting into your photographs.

The afternoon will include shooting at Idle Eyes in our studio spaces with various types of strobe set-ups alongside the guidance of a professional photographer. You will learn IRL in a fun and creative environment how to work with the gear and get the shots you want!

Things we’ll cover in this course:

  • Understanding core light theory (hard vs soft light)

  • Understanding how strobe lighting works with your camera including troubleshooting

  • Explanation of light modifiers and other equipment needed in strobe photography

  • Flash Photography vs. Continuous Lighting the benefits/limitations of both and how to use this to your advantage

  • Insight into the creative aspects of strobe photography and how these tips and tricks can elevate your images

  • Hands on experience: learn in-studio by playing with different brands of strobe lights (Profoto, Elinchrom, Godox) with various modifiers like umbrellas, strip boxes, octaboxes, beauty dishes

  • Shooting time with models in different sets & lighting scenarios in-studio

About The Instructor:
